The ashes for the 2006/07 season is only two weeks away. It is being held in Australia this year and Australia is trying to win back the ashes. The winning streak came to an end last year when the POMs won. We were meant to hand over the Trophy but the trophy was never even given to Australia.
Australia has a prime force set for the test match. Even though the english players are keen, they are no match for our aussie boys. Australia’s Glen McGrath is on fire and is expected to make a big impact. England’s Andrew Flintoff is also expected to do well this series.
It will be a very difficult job for the punters but so far the Aussies are the favourites to win but it could be like the Melbourne cup when the favourite, Tawkeet, had over 30 million dollars bet on him yet he came a shameful 18th out of 23 horses. Despite the slight chances that England has to win, they will put up a fight.
As you can obviously see, I am a Aussie supporter and proud of it. The Aussies will triumph this summer and send the POMs home empty handed (assuming they hand over the trophy).
The well awaited Holden VE range has at last been released on the 16th of July. The VE range was Australia’s first billion dollar design program and the most Australian design in 60 years, rather than just using a base design of the Pontiac, Vauxhall or Buick.
The new design is the safest and most technologically advanced commodore on the market and that holden has ever built. The interior, exterior and the mechanical parts have all been changed or upgraded creating the most original design ever built. Holden spent more than six years designing the new VE range.
The unveiling of the new VE range was one to remember as they unveiled the brand new VE SSV model commodore and the new luxurious Calais. The Holden flagships were also released featuring the new WM Statesman and the Caprice. The GM Holden chairman said that the new range was meant to exite buyers and promote the Australian design.
Having been in all the new VE range I can say that holden has done a very good job. The Calais and Calais V models are outstanding family cars and at a very affordable $45,490 for the Calais V6 model and $50,490 for the 6L V8. The Calias V model is slightly more expencive at $53,490 for the V6 and $58,490 for the 6L V8. But if your just looking for a cheaper car but is still a nice thing to be seen in then the Berlina is the way to go starting from $39,990 for the V6 and $44,990 for the 6L V8.
If you are looking for ultimate luxury then the Caprice is for you. Huge leg room, comfortable seats, GPS, Sat Nav, in built DVD players for the rear seats and an optional drop down screen for the front. It starts from $65,990 for the V6 and $69,990for the 6L V8.
Overall the whole range is amazing and should definately be looked at for any car buyer, whether you are a first buyer or a previous car owner. Have a look out for a new VE next time you go out.
Five years ago on Tuesday the 11th of September, 2001, a great trajedy occured in New York, USA. The worlds largest buildings were attacked by a group of suicide terrorists. The 19 terrorists, associated with the al-qaeda, were primarily targeting civilians.
The terrorists hijacked 4 passenger jet airliners. In each group of the terrorists there was a trained pilot. Two of the hijacked planes, United Airlines flight 175 and American Airlines flight 11, were aimed for the world trade centers. They both hit there target demolishing both towers and killing thousands of people. The third plane supposedly hit the Pentagon but the evidence of a 757 crashing is just not there. The wreckage of the plane just vanished or was just never there.
In the fourth plane’s passengers fought back but eventually lost the fight and the plane crashed and all passengers aboard died. They were considered heros and will always be remembered as will all the victims in the attacks will be.
There are many conspiracy theories about the attacks on the world trade centers and the pentagon. For instance, the recorded footage of several videos survieing the world trade center hits shows that just before the second plane hit the was a flash in the undercarrige.
This was a great trajedy to a great amount of people across the planet and the victims will not be forgotten.
On the 19th of July 2006 was International Day. This was a day a day where people joined a group and represented a country. Food was sold and music was played. The first two periods of the day were normal and so was recess but at the start of the 3rd period International Day came alive.
A concert was the first thing to start Interational Day. Many performances were presented by the different countries. The concert went for about one and a half hours and it was very entertaining. There were many acts such as fashion parades, german slap dancers and many other things. The Indian acts were in their plenty. There were indian drummers and their own special fashion parade were every costume represented a village. The koreans performed three love songs.
After the concert, people could wander around and view the differnt countries stalls. The german stall had black forest cake, snags and chicken. While Italy had spag blog. Italy sold out first. It could of been because the stock was in very limited supply or because it was a very popular stall. The other stalls had many interesting foods that I don’t know the name of.
Overall it was a very interesting multi-cultural day.
St. Patrick’s day is the celebration of the man himself, St. Patrick. He was born on 385 AD in Wales. He was considered a pagan untill he turned 16. Before this he was sold into slavery by Irish Marauders that raided his village.
He escaped his slavery and went to Gaul to study in the monastary under St. Germain for 12 years. He believed that his mission was to convert pagans to christianity. He wanted to go back to Ireland to convert the native pagans to christianity.
He was quite succesful in converting the pagans and this upset the Celtic Druids. He was arrested several times but each time escaped. He travelled all over Ireland to set up schools and monasteries to help him to convert. He died on the 17th of March in 461AD. This day was remembered as St.Patrick’s Day.

This Movie Review is on The Longest Yard. It stars Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, James Cromwell, Nelly and Burt Reynolds.
Paul “Wrecking” Crewe (Adam Sandler) was a football superstar back in his day, but that time has since faded after being charged with shaving points (throwing the game). But when a messy drunk driving incident involving his girlfriends car lands him in jail, Paul finds he was specifically requested to serve his three years in Allentown, Texas federal penitentiary by Warden Hazen (James Cromwell), a very sinister prison official well aware of Paul’s athletic skills. Paul has been assigned the task of assembling a team of convicts, to square off in a big football game against the guards. Normally this would be a hard task but since it’s against the guards it was an easier job. With the help of his new convict friend Caretaker (Chris Rock), and an old legend named Nate Scarborough (Burt Reynolds) to coach, Crewe is ready for what promises to be a very interesting game. It’s only the warden and the guards who have no idea who or what they’re up against, with Paul the driving force behind the new team. I would rate this movie 8/10. It is a very well made film with an experienced cast.
Paul Dana, a famous indy car racer, died after spearing into a unfortunate racer after the racer spun out on turn two of the Homestead Miami Speedway, Miami. The possible reason for his death was that he left his foot on the gas for a few tenths of a second to long and his tyres lost traction on the slanted road. He was practically already dead as soon as the other driver spun out. If he turned right he would of lost control and slammed into a wall, or if he turned left he would of spun and hit the inside wall. At 200m/ph either way he was in serious trouble.
The even more tragic thing is that he died during a warm up lap and it wasn’t his fault. It took about 15 minutes to get both drivers out of their cars. They were airlifted to Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami. Paul Dana Died shortly after noon. The other driver, Ed Carpenter was awake and alert for the whole time. Paul Dana was only a 30 year old rookie driver and will be missed in the Indy Car world.
This book is a very well written and in my view a great read. It is written by Theodore Taylor. It is about a young boy named Phillip, who is living on the island Curacao off the coast of Venezuela during World War II. His island is infested with two German u-boats. His mother decides it’s time to leave the island and when they finally do their boat is struck by two torpedoes. Phillip is now separated from his mother and is seriously concussed by a log striking his head as he fell overboard. He is pulled onto a raft by an old, large and black neegro. The story of survival begins. I would recommend this book for ages 10 and up and I would rate it 8/10. This is a great book and everybody that likes reading should read it.
Most people would think of easter as a time where chocolate is the most valuable thing in the world and the easter bunny is a bunny that gives out these masses of chocolate eggs that it somehow gets. Easter is actually about the reincarnation of christ (to the eyes of christians), while atheists just take in the chocolate at the christians expence. The easter bunny is more imporartant to many people rather than Jesus itself. So this easter just remember that it isn’t all about the chocolate but to the atheists, its all about the chocolate.
Well this is a story about the worst camp I’ve ever been to. No Carlo teacher would like to hear this but it was the YR 7 camp. It was a horrible camp esspecially compared to all the other camps I’ve been on.
When I first heard about it sounded like fun but when I arrived it looked pretty shoty. The first thing I saw was when we were first driving in. It was the food hall (a really bad restaurant). It was shaped like uluru that had been hit by a few rocks the size of small meteors.
Anyway, we headed out of the bus with our bags to the centre of one of the camp sites. The tents looked like cheap army tents except smaller. We headed into one of the tents and saw the beds were gym mats. We placed our gear with a bed (gym mat) and went back outside. One of the workers there explained the general rules and put us into groups. After everyone was sorted he introduced our instructor. Our instructor was reasonably tall and had a bit of a beer gut. He had nuts and bolts as earrings. These were big bolts too. He said to go and get changed into our swimmers because our first activity was kayaking. The kayak held three people. we went up and down the river but on the way down two kayaks teamed together and had to keep the edges touching (this job was done by the middle row of the kayak), the people in the front row of the kayak had to stand up and pretend to be statues while the back row was the engine, paddling the way home. After that we went to get changed and had dinner. The food was awful but better than nothing.
The next day it was the giant swing. it was were you got harnessed to a aeroplane cable (called this because it can pull an aeroplane without snapping) and got hoisted up by the rest of the team once you were about 10-15 metres up you had to pull a cable. When you pulled it you dropped and swung from side to side until you slowed down enough to stop. This wasn’t bad fun. It was probably the best thing on camp. Once every body had a turn we went to get changed and have dinner.
The next day nothing much happened. We did our final activity which was a co-operative task. We were split up into two teams and both received an item (Can’t remember what. I think it was a log). We had to go around the course without dropping it. When this was completed we went back on the bus and came home.
It might sound like a horrible camp, mainly because it was. This is my story and I think I went well over 200 words. (Try 493)
